meagre figures hustling tumbling towards the light as buildings crumble man, we’ve sure learned to fight

contrasts engraved in plastic for eternity, they believed one day we’ll cheat on gravity well, we just have needs to meet

while others roam the city streets

seeking for pleasure

just can’t get no relief

help me drive the pickaxe deeper

for me & my family, please

they once used to plant seeds or they fought one on one but now the sweat in factories and the enemy is gone

wigan pier has crumbled we examined everything but ourselves somewhat subtle things went wrong we’ve put the books back on the shelves

while others roam the city streets

seeking for pleasure

just can’t get no relief

help me drive the pickaxe deeper

for me & my family, please
